Y Viva Calella

It’s that time of year again – Sis’s birthday – and this year were off to (sunny) Spain.

Calella is a small coastal town east of Barcelona with an amazing beach, bustling tourist strip and easily accessible public transport connections.

The first day was unwinding with a croissie breakfast, a stroll along the prom and general sight seeing.

The following day and off to Barca, a lovely coastal trip on the train. Even though it was just the start of the season Barca was heaving. Queues everywhere and entrance to the major sights booked out in advance – don’t know what it must be like in season. But we were not perturbed and soldiered on!

A quieter day followed as the weather slowly deteriorated. Afternoon trip on the train along the coast in the opposite direction to Blanes with its wonderful seafront and fishing port. Also has a trip up a v steep hill, with a lovely tour guide who took us the scenic route to the amazing Jardin Botanique. The gardens were full of interest and the views stunning.

almost as if the birds were swooping to drink from the well

Had a great time round the Hotel pool – though didn’t venture in as it was outside and more than a tad cool. We were served with birthday drinks and complimentary champers by the friendliest barman in Spain (and possibly anywhere!)

Cheers Jean and heres to next April ;)
